How to change HER to EHR in MS Office

This is a tutorial how to change HER to EHR in Microsoft Word in Windows version. This is particularly useful for folks in the healthcare IT industry that use the vocabulary frequently. IT is accompanied by picture images to help readers. Now time to get rid of Microsoft Office autocorrecting EHR to HER.

It works for Office 2010, Office 2011, etc.


Windows OS:


Step 1: Open Microsoft Word. On the top left of your screen, find the “File” Tab.

It should then prompt the following screen:

Find the “Options” Button near the bottom. Click Options.


Step 2: Click “Proofing”


The Proofing screen should pop up.


Step 3: Replacing EHR Word.

Under Autocorrect Options, you can change how Word autocorrects and formats texts as you type: AutoCorrect Options…

Scroll down the autocorrect dictionary, look for “HER”

Select the Replace with: “EHR” item.

Click Delete. Click “Ok” to exit out of both screens and back to Microsoft Word document.


Step 4: Delete EHR from AutoCorrect Dictionary.


Viola. You are done. No more autocorrect for your Microsoft Word.
